Personal Journal

o h , m o n d a y

Last night, as I lay in bed, the realization that working and making sacrifices to be great, doesn’t end when school ends. I always liked to think that after school, work and life got easier. That I would not have to worry about crazy deadlines. I imagined having an overwhelming amount of free time where I would contemplate working out and/or watching Bravo marathons all day. Boy, was I wrong.

Life doesn’t get more difficult. Rather, the drive to not procrastinate and not worrying about failing a class starts slowing down (not talking about client projects, but rather my own personal initiatives.) It’s not until I come across other talented individual’s portfolios filled with the type of projects I wish I would have thought of, that I know I could have thought of, and if only I would have (instead of laying on my Pillow Pet watching reruns of The Real Housewives.)

So last night I started practicing, not what I preach—I figure preaching will only make me look worse. Rather I started practicing what I know to be true. I sacrificed my Sunday evening ritual of watching the Kardashians (yes, The Kardashians) and worked on shit that needed to get done.

This is kinda a big deal for me. It’s only the beginning, but it’s a start.

With that in mind, check out this poster my friend, Alexis Ruiz, shared with me this morning. Seemed very fitting for this morning’s topic. Hope you all have a great and productive week!
